Tomato Study

This study explores shape, color, and fragility through seemingly simple subjects transformed by perspective and technique. I approached these photographs as visual meditations on surface tension—both physical and perceptual.

The progression of the series plays with focus and perception, ultimately challenging how we see even the most ordinary objects when their context is subtly reframed.

Split-frame diptych juxtaposing a closeup of long eyelashes and an eye on the left with a vibrant orange tomato on a rough, red rock to the right. The contrasting organic and geometric forms share similar warm tones by Sydney SG
A bright orange tomato cradled by a silver fork, captured in shallow focus. The intimate composition emphasizes the fruit's vivid color against a soft neutral background. by Sydney SG
Pale green leaf edge curving against a deep orange-red background. The macro perspective reveals the leaf's delicate veining and textural details with dramatic color contrast. by Sydney SG
Abstract composition of blurred golden-yellow and muted red tomatoes behind clear plastic. The intentional soft focus creates a painterly effect with warm, glowing color gradients. by Sydney SG
Close-up of a green-gold eye that captures intricate detail in lashes and skin texture. The right side of the eye is collaged against a soft green branch. by Sydney SG
Abstract blur of warm orange tones against a cool sage green background. The intentional lack of focus transforms ordinary objects into pure color and form. by Sydney SG
Minimalist composition of an orange-red curved tomato against a neutral gray background. The soft focus and strong silhouette create a sculptural, meditative quality. by Sydney SG
Extremely soft-focus image of orange-yellow forms reflected in a row against a neutral background. The deliberate blur transforms the objects into an abstract rhythm of warm color. by Sydney SG
Silver, claw-like fork tines piercing a vibrant orange-red cherry tomato against a minimal gray background. The composition highlights the contrast between the polished metal and the fruit's natural form. by Sydney SG
